Who we are

We are your neighbors, your friends, and we are part of your community.
We represent the 84 homes that make up the Canyon Creek Estates Homeowners Association. The Homeowner’s Association was organized to help maintain a consistent and professional looking neighborhood. All Homeowners Association dues are voluntary with more than 70% of homeowners participating.
The Homeowner’s Association is represented by a volunteer and member-elected Board of Directors.

What we do for you.

We help to maintain your exterior brick post fences, which border Elbow Drive & Candle Cr., by doing regular exterior upkeep and painting.
We contract the services of professional landscapers that mow, trim, sweep, and maintain the boulevards and small park at the south end of 200 Candle Place.
Several volunteers within the community also regularly contribute to planting, watering, weeding, and maintaining the two gardens at each end of Candle Cr., as well as the shale bed at the entrance to Candle Court.

Why you should care.

We live on the north side of Fish Creek, with one of the country’s most beautiful parks with trails, bike paths, wildlife, and with beautiful scenery. Easy commute to downtown. Schools close by, and a fitness centre. One of Calgary’s finest golf courses and country club. Mountain and ravine views and many ridge
lots. Our community is mostly defined by brick post fencing including three brick entrance signs surrounded by flowers and shrubs or bordered by Fish Creek. Canyon Creek Estates – “a little jewel hidden away in the heart of the city.”

-Sylvia Smith

We help to keep the look and feel of the community, not only in the best shape possible, but to continue with a consistent look representative of a premiere estate community in Calgary.

Now what?

We are trying to get as close to 100% participation as possible for yearly dues, in order to spread out all ongoing expenses fairly amongst all homeowners.
We have been maintaining the brick post fences for 35 years and there are sections that will need to be replaced in the next 1-5 years. Maintaining them all these years has certainly helped to keep them in top shape, but some sections have met the end of life. Others will be following.
The brick post fences and grass boulevards not only define our neighborhood, but they represent the people and homes within the community. They are symbolic of Canyon Creek Estates and need to be maintained or replaced.

All brick post fences are on your private property and are NOT installed, maintained, or replaced by the city of Calgary. WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM. If we were to contract with the City of Calgary to mow the grass boulevards, instead of doing it privately, then it would add $200- $400 more to the property taxes that we each currently pay. House values have only gone up, but you can all imagine what would happen to price values, if the brick post fences were to start falling down, and then were replaced with a mishmash of different designs or materials. Grass boulevards are also our responsibility, and if the Homeowners Association were to no longer look after them, then YOU would have to take care of your own grass boulevards and figure out a way to get your mower around to Elbow Drive to deal with your section. Entrance landscape beds would also go into disrepair and bring down the overall look and feel of the
community.
